With summer just around the corner, you may be thinking of ways that you can hide your stomach behind another layer of clothes while you’re at the pool. Rather than feeling self-conscious about excess fat and skin on your abdomen, why not let us help you get a stomach that you will feel confident to flaunt at the pool this year with a tummy tuck? By removing excess skin from the abdomen and then combining it with some liposuction techniques, we can give you the stomach that you had in your teens. To help you decide whether or not a tummy tuck is the right procedure for you, let’s take a closer look at three unique things about this surgery that you may not know about.
-
Your Scar
Every surgery involves a scar, but not every scar has to be visible. During your tummy tuck, we will make the incision just above the pubic bone so that it can be concealed by our underwear or bikini bottom. That way nobody has to know that you had this procedure done.

Liposuction
A tummy tuck itself usually just involves removing excess skin from the abdomen and tightening it after extreme weight loss. However, many of our patients also want to get rid of excess fat at the same time which is why we may recommend a tummy tuck with liposuction. During this combined surgery, we will typically start out with liposuction and then finish off with the skin tightening portion of the procedure. One of the unique benefits of doing these two procedures at the same time is that you will only have to worry about one recovery.

Recovery
One of the things that we tell our patients after they get a tummy tuck is to prepare for recovery. Because a tummy tuck is a fairly invasive surgery, it will require a lengthy recovery. On average, you should plan to take a week or two off of work to lay in bed and really rest. Before you go home after surgery, we will give you a list of recovery tips and suggestions.
