What is KYBELLA?
The first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment of submental fullness, KYBELLA is injected into the stubborn area of fat beneath the chin to melt away the fat permanently. This simple treatment is a safe, effective alternative to surgery to remove the fat.
What causes a double chin?
A double chin is a common concern for many patients, no matter their weight or age. Genetics is one cause of a double chin. It may appear or get worse with aging or weight gain.
How does KYBELLA work?
The fat below the chin is difficult to eliminate. Using a naturally occurring substance found in the body, KYBELLA helps break down and eliminate dietary fat in moderate to severe double chins. The treatment permanently destroys the fat cells, which means once they’re gone, they can no longer store or accumulate fat. This results in a slimmer, smoother chin profile.
Treatments take no more than 20 minutes. Each session consists of multiple injections—up to 35 quick injections—in an area that’s mapped out under the chin. The number of treatments depends on the patient’s needs and desired results. Most patients will undergo 2 to 4 treatments, but you can have up to six treatments. These sessions are scheduled about a month apart to allow for recovery.
What is treatment like?
Patients may experience slight tenderness and a temporary sting during the injections and will have some minor swelling, bruising or tenderness under the chin that resolves fairly quickly after treatment.
