John Bing, CRNA is the Region 6 Director of the AANA as well as the President of the Diversity Nurse. He is the owner and founder of an independent anesthesia practice, J. Bing and Associates Anesthesia Services. He has provided anesthesia for independent practices, hospitals, and outpatient centers for greater than twenty- five years. He is a graduate of both the University of the District of Columbia and George Washington University’s School of Nurse Anesthesia.
Since graduating, his work experience includes The University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Center, Johns Hopkins University as an independent practitioner for the department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as various independent practices in office base settings and outpatient ambulatory centers. He was the first CRNA to be appointed by Maryland’s Governor Martin O’Malley, to the Board of Nursing. He has served two consecutive terms, as the President of the Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA), and the Chair of their Political Action Committee. Currently, he serves as the Chair for the University of Maryland School of Nursing Board of Visitors, the first nurse anesthetist to assume the position. John’s talents extend beyond the conventional operating room to the makeshift ORs in Central America where he provides anesthesia for the under-served children in need of plastic and reconstructive surgery. John mentors the next generation of under-represented minority nurse anesthetists and most recently, his accomplishments were highlighted in the prestigious Washingtonian Magazine, and Minority Nurse Magazine.
